Riverside County health officials are recommending residents cover their nose and mouth when leaving home for essential travel to doctor appointments, grocery shopping or pharmacy visits. The face coverings do not have to be hospital grade but need to cover the nose and mouth. For example, bandanas, fabric masks and neck gaiters are acceptable. Fabric covers and bandanas can be washed and used again.

Health officials continue to stress that frequent hand washing, social distancing and staying home are the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Beware of Offers to Test for Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Seniors should never give their Medicare number to anyone over the phone or door-to-door solicitors offering to test for the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

Beware of:

  • Scammers approaching residents of senior housing and assisted living facilities about “opportunities” for COVID-19 testing
  • Robocalls about “special virus kits” and asking for your Medicare number to send a “free” test
  • Emails offering COVID-19 testing services that can be ordered through a telehealth provider.
